At last the waiting is over and the island’s isolation is coming to an end for our long term client St Helena. Today’s announcement by the International Development Secretary Andrew Mitchell MP that an Airport is to be built on the Island is great news. We’ve worked closely with the St Helena Government since 2009 on a range of communications tasks and programmes. A member of our team visited the island last year and we’ve all developed a tremendous bond and affection for this little known UK Territory, whose only access until now has been via a cargo/ passenger ship, the RMS St Helena. The months ahead signal a new dawn for St Helena. We’ll be working closely with the tourist board to help them raise the profile of the island, enhance the tourism experience and gear up for the new levels of tourism.
We’re also delighted that the St Helena Government has acknowledged the contribution that we have made to it gaining an airport. A contribution that its former Governor, Andrew Gurr kindly recognised when he said, “Keene developed and implemented an integrated communications strategy which played a major part in effectively making the case to Government and Parliament for building an airport on St Helena”.
We send our good wishes to all the Saints on the Island and those scattered around the world and look forward to a continued working relationship.
