On behalf of one of our longstanding clients – The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (www.panynj.gov) – Keene worked with BAA and London First to organise a seminar on how two cities, London and New York, need to ensure that there is enough future aviation capacity at their airports to allow economic growth and maintain their global city status.
The Port Authority’s Director of Aviation Susan M. Baer and Vice-President Aviation Public Affairs Ralph Tragale, flew in for the event following a series of meetings we had organised for them in the Middle East, which included the President of Emirates Tim Clark, CEO of Abu Dhabi Airport Jim Bennett and CEO of Ethiad James Hogan.
Susan was joined on the seminar panel by the CEO of BAA Colin Matthews, the Chairman of Gatwick Airport Sir David Rowlands, The Deputy Mayor of London Daniel Moylan and the renowned economist Dr Irwin Stelzer. Proceedings were chaired by Baroness Jo Valentine – the Chief Executive of London First.
The seminar provided an excellent forum in which to share experiences on how both London and New York airports are attempting to make their respective operations as efficient as possible. Most importantly however, It illustrated beyond doubt the need for both airport systems to develop additional aviation capacity if the cities they serve are to remain global economic centres.
We are all looking forward to the return leg in New York next year!
