From Branson to Beckham. This month we look at how Visit Britain has unveiled Victoria Beckham as an international ambassador to support its ‘GREAT’ campaign to promote the country worldwide and, in particular, celebrate British fashion. The announcement was made during New York’s Fashion Week in mid February following the launch on the New York subway where the Grand Central Train was wrapped in a Union Jack flag, other marketing stunts were also carried out. GREAT images of the UK have been posted at key stations and New York taxis were also branded with the inspiring imagery of Britain enticing locals to book their trip to the UK. As part of her role as ambassador, Victoria will also be playing a leading part in a short film to show her support for the campaign and Britain. However, despite living in America, the Beckhams continue to be an iconic couple and well respected by the British public. Victoria being chosen, as global ambassador for the campaign is particularly timely especially now has her own fashion brand , which is made in Britain.
It is Britain’s biggest ever international tourism campaign aiming to attract an extra 4.6 million visitors to the UK over the next four years. The campaign will be rolled out in a further 13 major cities including the likes of China, Brazil and India. With the Queen’s Jubilee and the 2012 Olympics just around the corner there has never been a better time to celebrate all things British!
